At the start of the new year, Faine Company successfully developed and officially launched its independently designed and manufactured DD40/2 deep-hole CNC drilling machine (refer to Figures 1 and 2), marking a significant addition to its product line. This breakthrough fills a critical gap in the domestic market for deep-hole CNC drilling equipment, reducing reliance on imported solutions. Since its launch, Faine's CNC deep-hole drilling machine has gained strong market recognition. The first unit was already signed with Shanghai Sensong Group, and it has now successfully processed a tube sheet for them (see Figure 3).
In March 2004, Faine made the strategic decision to develop a deep-hole CNC drilling machine aimed at providing efficient and suitable processing equipment for thick tube sheets. After over a year of dedicated effort by the company’s team, the DD40/2 was successfully developed and smoothly put into production. The first machine produced by Faine signed a supply contract with Shanghai Sensong Group and has demonstrated excellent performance and high-quality machining results.
The tube sheet processed had dimensions of Ф2100×420mm, composed of 11mm-thick stainless steel and 410mm-thick 16Mn material. Despite using the same spindle speed, the machine applied different processing methods: a slower feed rate was used for the stainless steel portion, which automatically increased after drilling, enabling one-time drilling through the composite material. This innovative approach ensures efficiency and precision in complex multi-material machining.
The DD40/2 deep-hole CNC drilling machine is primarily used in industries such as petrochemical, boilers, and thermoelectric power plants for drilling deep holes in heat exchange tube sheets. It utilizes either hard alloy external chip removal gun drills or internal chip removal BTA drilling technology, ensuring advanced processing capabilities, high precision, and stable quality. With a maximum clamping length of 4000mm, a workpiece thickness of up to 750mm, and drilling diameters ranging from Φ7 to Φ24mm, the machine delivers exceptional performance. The surface roughness of the machined holes reaches Ra1.6–3.2, with an aperture precision of IT9–IT10 and hole roundness of 0.02mm. Its high precision combined with competitive pricing makes it the ideal choice for thick tube sheet processing.
