This is from Drew Smith: From the CAD: 11:28AM Thu 04/24/2014 TRT3 HAS BEEN DISPATCHED TO CFS:13 MUTUAL AID Loc:3980 TRIUMVERA DR, GV NM APT#: GRID:9999 Date/Time:04/24/2014 11:28:29 From RED CTR This was a car into the building call. I didn't hear the Glenview dispatch, but I heard RED Center send Engine 1 and TRT3. I was on Central Road heading to NIPSTA for a MABAS meeting, so I took it in cold. Upon arrival, I noticed a car had crashed into the garage and there was a heavy odor of natural gas in the area. I parked about 100 yards or more away from the incident. GV had a line pulled and was working to secure the gas. I don’t know if there were any injuries. As soon as I arrived at the command post, Battalion 6 returned TRT3, E1, and some GV companies. Drew Smith photo Drew Smith photo Drew Smith photo The scene was pretty intense. There was a lot of activity with fire trucks and emergency crews on the ground. I could see the impact of the crash from a distance, and the smell of natural gas was strong. It looked like they were handling the situation carefully, trying to prevent any further issues. The location was a residential area, so it’s good that no one was hurt, as far as I know. It's always concerning when a vehicle crashes into a building, especially with the potential for gas leaks. I stayed for a while, just observing, and then headed back to my meeting. It was a reminder of how quickly things can change on the road.
