Last night, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to emergency calls reporting smoke emanating from a residence near the intersection of Evergreen Place and White Pine Road. Upon arrival, the initial responding unit noticed visible smoke, prompting an upgrade to a full-scale working fire response. This call brought together not only Buffalo Grove’s resources but also additional support from neighboring departments including Long Grove, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Prospect Heights, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods.
Attached is an image captured by Larry Shapiro showing smoke escaping through the roof after ventilation efforts. The scene highlights the intense smoke conditions encountered upon entry into the home. Firefighters quickly identified the source of the fire—a blaze located in a corner bedroom on the second floor—and successfully contained it. During their operation, they rescued a cat that was treated by Buffalo Grove medics on-site. Unfortunately, several birds did not survive the incident.
Another image shows firefighters preparing to investigate the basement area following the ventilation of rear windows, ensuring no one remained trapped within. Further photographs depict the critical role played by Buffalo Grove Tower 25 as the first vehicle on the scene, along with the challenges faced when the primary hydrant proved unusable, necessitating the use of an alternative water source.
