Saturday’s event at the Quinn Fire Academy was a gathering like no other, bringing together fire enthusiasts and historical apparatus collectors from across the region. The muster featured an impressive lineup of vehicles, each with its own story to tell. One of the highlights was the classic apparatus display, where attendees got to see some truly remarkable pieces of firefighting history. Among them was a stunning 1977 Century Series American LaFrance engine, owned by John Carter, which drew plenty of attention. Its sleek design and powerful presence made it stand out amidst the crowd. Another standout was the 1961 FWD engine from the Sauk Fire District in Wisconsin, now proudly owned by Gary Jensen. This vintage vehicle was a testament to the evolution of firefighting technology over the decades. Also on display was a 2001 American LaFrance Eagle/3D engine, part of Hillside Fire Department’s impressive fleet. Next to it stood a privately owned 1975 American LaFrance Century Series engine, adding even more depth to the collection. The event wasn’t just about modern engines; the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago brought along their iconic Ahrens Fox engine, drawing gasps of admiration from the crowd. It was placed front and center, allowing visitors to appreciate its intricate details and historical significance. While not captured in the photos, two additional pieces caught the eye of many attendees. A replica of LA County Squad 51 added a touch of nostalgia, while a Chicago Ridge engine rounded out the collection with its contemporary charm. It was a day filled with camaraderie and learning, as fire buffs shared stories and experiences. For those who love the rich history of firefighting, it was an unforgettable experience. Special thanks go to photographer Bill Friedrich for capturing so many incredible moments throughout the day.
