Grilling Outdoors with the A-Series

The PGS "A" (Aluminum) Series of grills have been meticulously crafted using a blend of durable permanent Mold aluminum, commercial-grade stainless steel, brass, and porcelain-on-steel components. The A-Series comes in two sizes, the A-30 and A-40, each offering a wide range of high-quality permanent and portable mounting options along with various accessories. Both models can be used with either natural gas or liquid propane.      

Selecting the Right Spot

Designed specifically for outdoor use, the A-Series grills are built to withstand the elements. It's important to remember that every gas-burning appliance produces carbon monoxide, which shouldn't accumulate in confined spaces.

Never operate your A-Series gas grill indoors, in your garage, RV, boat, or any enclosed space. 

When choosing a spot for your grill, ensure it’s placed at least 30 inches away from any flammable materials and away from high-traffic areas.

Lighting Your Grill

Before lighting your grill, carefully inspect the hose or gas supply. Look for excessive wear or cuts, and replace any damaged hoses before operating the grill. Always keep the lid open while lighting to prevent gas fumes from building up, which could lead to dangerous flare-ups.

1. Avoid standing directly over the grill when lighting the burner.
2. Ensure the lid is fully open and check the interior for any abnormalities.
3. Turn both control knobs to the OFF position. Either knob can be used to light the grill.
4. Turn the gas supply on at the tank or source. Adjust one knob to MEDIUM and press the red button on the ignitor module. You should hear the ignitor clicking, and within four seconds, half of the burners should light. Turning the other knob to HIGH will automatically ignite the remaining burner.

Double-check that the burners have lit and that the flames are at the appropriate intensity. It's a good idea to monitor the grill for about two minutes before walking away. Early detection of small leaks or spider-induced fires can prevent bigger problems.

Grilling Tips

1. On your first use, light both burners on HIGH for ten to fifteen minutes. This helps burn off any oils present on new surfaces. We suggest applying a light coat of vegetable oil to the cooking grids before firing up the grill; spray oil works just as well.
2. Burning the grill after each use is neither necessary nor recommended. Excessive burning can cause premature wear on your grill components or even damage the A-Series if left unattended. Preheat your grill for 5 to 8 minutes before each use to burn off most of the grease and residue. Once the cooking grids have cooled, gently scrub them with a nylon cleaning pad or similar material to remove any stuck-on food.

Remember to lightly oil the cooking grid with a spray-on oil, vegetable, or safflower oil before your next use.

You can clean the stainless steel cooking grids with a brass wire brush. Make sure to thoroughly wash the grids before using them. 

Avoid placing cooking grids, rock grates, or rocks in self-cleaning ovens.

Safety and the A-Series

At AEI, we aim to provide our clients with a safe and exceptional outdoor experience. Both natural gas (NG) and propane gas (LP) are safe when handled properly. Please, never use natural gas in a unit designed for liquid propane or vice versa. Never connect an unregulated propane gas cylinder or unregulated natural gas to your gas grill.

Most homes equipped with natural gas have a regulator near the gas meter. 

In case you accidentally leave the grill valves on "ON" and then open the valve on top of your tank, the excess flow device will activate, shutting off the gas flow. If this happens, turn the grill valves to the “OFF” position, then close the tank valve. Wait two minutes and then reopen the tank valve before turning the grill valves back to “ON.” Always turn on the tank valve first, followed by the grill head valves to the “ON” position.
