Grilling Outdoors with the A-Series

The PGS "A" (Aluminum) Series grills are meticulously crafted using a blend of durable permanent Mold aluminum, commercial-grade stainless steel, brass, and porcelain-coated steel components. These features ensure you get a grill that's not only excellent for cooking but also looks great. The PGS A-Series barbecues represent over 40 years of expertise in selling premium outdoor cooking equipment. Drawing on that experience, they've created a grill that can handle anything you throw at it.

The A-Series comes in two sizes: the A-30 and A-40. Both models offer a variety of high-quality permanent and portable mounting options along with useful accessories. Whether you prefer natural gas or liquid propane, both grills can accommodate your needs.

Selecting the Right Location

Designed specifically for outdoor use, the A-Series grills have been engineered with safety in mind. All gas appliances produce carbon monoxide, which shouldn’t accumulate in confined spaces.

Never operate your A-Series gas grill indoors, in your garage, RV, boat, or any other enclosed space.

When choosing a spot for your grill, ensure it’s at least 30 inches away from any flammable materials and positioned away from high-traffic areas.

Lighting Your Grill

Before lighting your grill, carefully inspect the hose or gas supply. Look for excessive wear or cuts. If there’s any damage, replace the hose before using the grill. Always keep the lid open while lighting to prevent gas buildup, which could lead to dangerous flare-ups.

  1. Avoid standing directly over the grill when lighting the burners.
  2. Ensure the interior is free of any abnormalities.
  3. Turn both control knobs to the OFF position. Either knob can be used to light the grill.
  4. Turn the gas tank or supply valve ON, then set one knob to MEDIUM and press the red ignition button. You should hear the ignitor clicking, and one burner should light within four seconds. Turn the other knob to HIGH, and the second burner will ignite automatically.

Double-check that the burners are lit and the flames are appropriately sized. It’s wise to monitor the grill for about two minutes before walking away. Early detection of small leaks or spider web blockages can prevent bigger issues down the line.

Grilling Tips

  1. On your first use, light both burners on HIGH for 10 to 15 minutes. This helps burn off any oils present on the new surfaces. Prior to lighting your grill, apply a light coating of vegetable oil to the cooking grids—spray oil works just as well.
  2. It’s unnecessary and not recommended to burn the grill after every use. Excessive burning can cause premature wear or even damage to your A-Series grill. Preheating the grill for 5 to 8 minutes before each use should suffice to burn off most grease and residue. After cooling, gently scrub the cooking grids with a nylon pad to remove any stuck-on food.

Remember to lightly oil the cooking grid with a spray-on oil or vegetable oil before your next use.

Clean the stainless steel cooking grids with a brass wire brush. Make sure to wash them thoroughly before using.

Never place cooking grids, rock grates, or lava rocks in a self-cleaning oven.

Safety Guidelines for the A-Series

At AEI, our goal is to ensure our customers enjoy a safe and exceptional outdoor cooking experience. Both natural gas (NG) and propane gas (LP) are safe when used correctly. Please, never use natural gas in a unit designed for liquid propane or vice versa. Never connect an unregulated propane gas cylinder or unregulated natural gas to your grill.

Most homes equipped with natural gas have a regulator near the gas meter.

If you accidentally leave your grill valves on while opening the tank valve, the excess flow device will activate and shut off the gas supply. If this happens, turn the grill valves to the “OFF” position, then close the tank valve. Wait two minutes, then reopen the tank valve before turning the grill valves back to the “ON” position. Always open the tank valve first, then the grill valves.
