Its main task is to make molybdenite into line with steel and chemical industries applications of oxide or molybdate. The requirements of the steel sector are mainly low in sulfur, phosphorus and arsenic . The chemical sector mainly requires that it be soluble in ammonia water, that is, compounds containing MoS 2 , MoO 2 , CaMoO 4 and the like which are hardly soluble in NH 4 OH.
The decomposition methods of molybdenite are oxidative roasting and various wet decomposition methods (see the following figure). The former is mainly suitable for the treatment of standard concentrates, which can handle both concentrates and non-standard concentrates and medium mines as well as complex mines.

The Mo0 3 powder obtained by the above decomposition method can be directly used to form a molybdenum oxide block for steel making. Since the density of Mo0 2 is larger than that of Mo0 3 , the volatilization loss is small at high temperatures. In recent years, MoO 2 block steelmaking has been increasingly used, and when molybdenite is treated, moO 2 products are sometimes directly produced.
