When Korean tires were involved in quality incidents, consumers were increasingly concerned about their own safety, and increasingly concerned about how tire companies balance the cost control and product quality conflicts. As the world's largest tire company, Michelin how to treat these issues, how to treat Chinese consumers? To this end, the reporter interviewed Xie Yifu, president of Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd.

Reporter: What are the impacts on Korean tire companies that have been involved in the accident?

Xia Yuefu: This is a good opportunity for the entire tire industry. Because this makes consumers pay more attention to tire safety and other performance. In the past few years, Michelin has been committed to raising public awareness of tires and safety through high-quality products, services and safety activities.

The tyres produced in China by Michelin and the tyres produced in the United States and Germany follow the same standards and quality systems. We realize that in China, some consumers may pay attention to the origin, but for Michelin, what we value is made by Michelin, which is produced by Michelin. As long as it is produced by Michelin all over the world, the quality is the same. We not only comply with China's industry policies and regulations, ensuring that we meet the national quality standards; in addition, regardless of raw materials or production processes in production, we strictly comply with the Group's production standards and China's laws and regulations. In the production process of the factory, we have further improved workers' operating standards and safety by applying a series of performance management methods.

Reporter: The emergence of problem tyres is partly due to the fact that companies are over-controlling costs. Faced with the pressure of rising prices of rubber and other important raw materials, in the face of rising quality and safety standards, how can Michelin resolve the contradictions between controlling costs and ensuring quality and safety?

Xia Yuefu: It takes more investment to improve quality, and safety also requires higher costs. But this is not all that the company considers. We need to see the quality of the tires, the cost of the tires, and the cost implications of safety hazards due to tire quality issues.

Michelin will do some research, such as trying to use new alternative materials to reduce the use of some high-cost raw materials, but it will not sacrifice the performance of the tire.
