On Saturday, August 29, 2020, firefighters from Buffalo Grove swiftly responded to a fire that broke out on a third-floor balcony at 1541 Johnson Drive. The flames were discovered on the front edge of the balcony, which was located farthest from the building. As the situation developed, the alarm was upgraded to Code 4, calling in additional resources to manage smoke and conduct thorough searches throughout the 12-unit, three-story residential building.
Multiple fire departments and emergency services were dispatched to the scene, including Buffalo Grove's Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, and chief officers. Additional support came from Long Grove Squad 55, Prospect Heights Engine 39, Wheeling Truck 24, Northbrook Tower 12, Deerfield-Bannockburn Engine 20, Arlington Heights Engine 4, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion 51 and Squad 51, as well as ambulances from Barrington and Hoffman Estates.
