West Chicago Special Alarm at 923 Gates. The call came in as a basement fire. When the crews arrived, they found flames already in the basement. The fire had spread up through a plumbing wall and into the dormer on the second floor. Firefighters managed to bring it under control within about 30 minutes using four handlines.
