John Tulipano sent this update:
"This just came in from the field. St. Charles Engine 103 and Brush 101 were initially dispatched to 4000 West Lincoln Highway (Route 38) for what was suspected to be a brush fire. While en route, Engine 103 radioed that they could see smoke in the distance. Upon arrival, they confirmed an extensive brush fire spanning about 10 acres, rapidly moving westward. Chief 112 arrived shortly after and immediately requested additional resources, including brush trucks from Batavia and Geneva. When Elburn's chief arrived, he reinforced the request, calling for two brush trucks and a tanker from Elburn as well."
"Fox River and Countryside (FRC) also received a dispatch from Kane County while they were already dealing with two separate brush fires at the northeastern edge of their jurisdiction. They eventually arrived with both of their engines, a tanker, and two brush trucks. When FRC joined the effort, they took charge of the western flank of the fire, focusing on protecting a large barn, a house, and several outbuildings from the advancing flames."
"The FRC tanker played a crucial role throughout the operation, refilling multiple vehicles including those from St. Charles, Elburn, and their own units to help get the fire under control. It turns out this fire fell within FRC's district, with the address being 39W962 Route 38. Their efforts were instrumental in containing the blaze before it caused significant damage."
