On February 28, 2008, PSA Peugeot Citroen signed a cooperation agreement with Turkish automotive company Karsan to produce Citroen Berlingo First and Peugeot Partner Origin. It will also develop and commission an extended version of this commercial vehicle. These models are tailor-made for the Turkish market and will be exported to countries outside the EU.
These commercial vehicles will be assembled at the Karsan plant in Bursa, Turkey at the end of 2008 and will produce 150,000 vehicles by 2013.
The signing of the cooperation agreement is part of the CAP2010 plan implemented by the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group since 2007. The agreement aims to accelerate and enrich the launch of new products by 2010, in particular to accelerate the Group's globalization.
In 2007, the Peugeot Citroen Group sold 39,100 vehicles in Turkey, with a market share of 6,6%. The Turkish market is an important market in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2007, the total sales of the market reached 595 000 vehicles.
Karsan Automotive has been working closely with the Group for many years to produce Peugeot Partner Origin at its Bursa plant and sell it on the local market.
