French new car sales fell 17% in May PSA fell 28%

According to statistics compiled by the CCFA of the French Automobile Manufacturers Commission, new car sales in France in May were 197,671 units, a year-on-year decrease of 17.2%. Sales volume for the same period last year was 238,873 units.

In May, the sales volume of French local auto company PSA was 59,552, a year-on-year decrease of 28.0%, and sales of the same period last year were 82,749. Renault Motors sold 47,561 vehicles in France in May, down 13.6% year-on-year.

In addition, sales of Volkswagen, Ford, Fiat, and General Motors in France all declined in May. Toyota and Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. achieved a converse trend.

In the first five months of this year, new car sales in the French market totaled 1,009,379 units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.9%, and sales in the same period last year were 1,200,714 units.

The cumulative sales of PSA in France in the first five months were 313,299 vehicles, a decrease of 22.1% year-on-year.
